Global junior college students, undergraduate students, and graduate student


2. Important Dates

  • Call for Entries: currently Open – 15/10/2023

  • Review of Works: 16/10/2023 – 30/10/2023

  • Announcement of Winners: 31/10/2023

  • Award Ceremony: early December 2023


3. Eligible Entries

We welcome a diverse range of works that advocate Science for the SDGs. These include but are not limited to, posters, videos, GIFs, illustrations, games, apps, interactive designs, as well as sustainable designs such as products, automobiles, packaging, decorations, fashion, architecture, interior design, landscape design, and public art. Entries are categorized into four distinct categories: art & science, media design, product design, and environmental design.


4. Award

Entry works will be reviewed based on the four categories. Awards in each category are the following:

  • Gold: 10 pieces

  • Silver: 15 pieces

  • Bronze: 20 pieces

Note: Awards may be vacant depending on the quality of the work.


5. Award Benefits

  • Winners will be presented with a certificate jointly issued by UNESCO and IIDA.

  • IIDA and UNESCO social media will promote the winners.

  • Winners will be invited to attend the award ceremony.

  • Awarded pieces have priority in participating in the UN international exhibitions or forums.


6. Copyright Acknowledgment

All entry works are credited to creators. UNESCO and IIDA Committee has the rights to and are not limited to copy, issue, exhibition, digital distribution, revision, compilation, publication, etc.

This Privacy Notice explains how UNESCO uses the personal data we collect from you when you participate in the 2023 International Innovation Awards (IIDA) & Science for SDGs Innovation Contest. By submitting the application form, you agree to UNESCO’s processing of the personal data for the following purposes:

  • to communicate with you regarding the contest

  • for our internal reporting purposes

  • as reasonably necessary for the management and organization of the contest

  • for any other purpose to which you consent in connection with the consent

By submitting the application form, you agree that UNESCO may share your personal data with:

  • the co-organizer of the contest, UNITRAIN (http://www.unitrain.org), as reasonably necessary for the management and organization of the contest

  • members of the contest jury, established by UNESCO and UNITRAIN

Your personal data will not be published for general access nor shared or sold to third parties.

UNESCO and its partners may use the received design works for promotional purposes, including displaying them on UNESCO and/or UNITRAIN, IIDA & Science for SDGs Innovation Contest websites, social media platforms, and other communication channels. By submitting the application form, you agree to UNESCO and its partners' use of the received design works for promotional purposes as described above.
